Clementina Turyamureba, a resident of Nyamihunda village in Lyakajjula Parish, Lyantonde district, is a member of the Bwihagaju Bakyala Tukwatanise women’s group in Lyakajjula Sub-County. Together with her husband, they have six children.
Initially, Clementina’s husband, despite earning less than her, was supportive of her involvement in women’s groups. He encouraged her to attend and even contributed ten thousand shillings to her savings group. However, they experienced a rift in their relationship when Clementina suspected her husband of spending time with other women. This suspicion was born out of her husband’s new habit of coming home late. Whenever Clementina interrogated him about the late coming, he remained silent, which would escalate into misunderstandings and heated arguments. Consequently, her husband ceased his financial support towards her savings in the group.
